

Merida wants a spell to change her mother, which will in turn change her fate, or so she thinks. Merida is led to a witch, and she buys her wood carvings and a spell by giving away her necklace. Her mother burns her bow, but after she’s left, she quickly pulls it out of the fire in regret. Merida opens up that she doesn’t want to be like her mother, and she tears a tapestry, separating her mother from the rest of the family. Her mother continually tells her to stop, but she hits several targets right in the middle.Īfterward, Merida and her mother argue again. However, after all three sons have gone, she decides to compete for her own hand. Merida gets to choose the competition, so she decides on archery, a passion of her own. They both want to make each other understand their point of view but don’t think the other person is willing to listen. Merida and her mother don’t see eye to eye. She is upset with this because she has no choice about who she wants to marry, and she’s very unprepared.

However, this is challenged when her mother announces that other clans will offer up their sons to compete in games for Merida’s hand in marriage.

She starts off by reflecting on her responsibilities and waiting for the day she can change her fate. Also, I will be discussing the movie’s relevance to women and women’s rights to celebrate Women’s History Month. They all relate to the idea that she is a woman of higher status, and this means she makes little decisions on her own about her life. Merida, the main character, is a young princess who grows up with many expectations placed on her.

But at the same time, Pixar's DNA commingling with Disney's is taking shape, and it's not entirely pretty, as there are also anachronistic silliness and minor vulgarities here. With the entertaining "Brave," Pixar's winning streak of high quality animation continues. All of whom she promptly embarrasses with her superior bow skills, before getting in an argument with her mother and then running away into the forest where she comes across a witch minding her business. But as a princess, she has certain responsibilities that her younger brothers do not, like presiding over a competition of three suitors for her hand in marriage. In "Brave," Merida would like nothing more than to run around with her bow and arrow all day.
